Dr. Cristina Muncy graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. Upon graduation, she received the Mission of Mercy Award of Excellence for her dedication and extraordinary contributions to the Mission of Mercy projects as a Student Coordinator. Having attended her first MOM project at age 8 with her father, Dr. James Muncy, she has long since been invested in and committed to the MOM and VDAF vision to improve oral health through education, research, and access to care, specifically those in underserved areas. She attended the University of Virginia for her undergraduate education and earned her B.A. in both Biology and Spanish in 2021.

While at VCU, Cristina remained engaged both academically and within her community. She was selected for the Prosthodontics select program at VCU, and received recognition from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry for her interest, as well as academic and clinical achievements in implant dentistry from the Department of Prosthodontics. She additionally worked as a Prosthodontics TA and tutor for multiple classes to aid other students in their academic pursuits. In addition to helping coordinate and execute the MOM projects from 2022-2025, the Richmond native was also an enthusiastic volunteer with Give Kids a Smile, which provides annual free dental service to children in the Richmond community.

Cristina is currently furthering her education in a General Practice Residency in Asheville, NC at the Mountain Area Health Education Center. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, she is dedicated to serving the Asheville community and helping those most impacted by the natural disaster receive the dental care they need.

In her free time, she enjoys staying active by swimming and playing volleyball, and she recently completed her first triathlon and half marathon. She is an avid reader, loves arts and crafts, and enjoys spending time with loved ones.

“P.G. grew up in New Jersey, the son of immigrant parents, and in 1944, barely of age, he enlisted in the army, specifically the paratroopers. P.G. was on only his second combat jump when he was captured by German troops and placed briefly in a concentration camp. By the grace of God, this was April,1945, and in approximately one month this camp was liberated by the allies, and P.G. survived.
